Meet
YOUR CAPTAIN

Meet Captain Steve

U.S. Coast Guard Licensed Master Captain (100 Ton)

My connection to the sea goes back generations. As a third-generation fisherman, I was raised with salt in my veins and taught early on to respect the ocean, understand its rhythms, and navigate its challenges with skill and humility. This is not just a business for me. It is a passion and a way of life. When you step aboard No. 7, you are not stepping onto a generic charter boat. You are joining me on my personal pride and joy, a boat I purchased brand new and outfitted myself for both serious offshore fishing and comfortable cruising. This is my home on the water, not a leased vessel. Everything on board reflects my standards, my experience, and my commitment to giving guests the kind of trip I would want for myself.

Professional Credentials You Can Count On

I hold a United States Coast Guard Master 100 Ton License with a Towing Endorsement. This is a high-level credential that requires significant sea time, rigorous training, and comprehensive examination in navigation, safety, weather, emergency procedures, and vessel operation.

Here is what that means for you:

  • I am legally qualified to operate vessels up to 100 gross tons. These are often large inspected commercial vessels or private recreational yachts in the 100-foot range.
  • In contrast, “No. 7” has a gross tonnage of approximately 28 tons. That means she falls well below the size of vessel I am licensed to operate, giving you the added assurance that I am not just legally compliant, but professionally overqualified.
  • I also hold a Towing Endorsement, which permits me to assist other boats in distress, an added level of capability and safety.

By comparison, most charter boat captains have a more common six-pack license (officially the OUPV license), which is limited to uninspected vessels and allows the carriage of no more than six paying passengers.

When you book a trip on “No. 7”, you’re not just getting a beautiful and well-outfitted boat. You’re getting a captain whose credentials far exceed the requirements for a vessel of this size and type, along with decades of hands-on experience.

Extensive Experience in Bimini

My relationship with Bimini runs deep. I have been crossing over since childhood, long before GPS and modern marinas shaped the island we know today. I have watched Bimini grow over the decades, from a sleepy outpost into a popular destination, yet much of its magic remains just as I first experienced it.

Over the years, I have built lasting relationships with many locals, earning their friendship and respect, and gaining insight that only comes with time. Whether it is knowing where the fish are biting, which reefs are best for snorkeling, or how to time a crossing to avoid weather headaches, Bimini feels like a second home to me. If your trip includes a visit there, you will be guided by someone who truly knows the waters, the people, and the pulse of the island.

Why Only Bimini?

You may be wondering why I focus exclusively on Bimini when the Bahamas offer so many beautiful destinations. The answer is simple: I believe in fishing smart. Bimini has everything a great trip needs, without long runs or logistical headaches.

Over the years, I’ve traveled extensively throughout the Out Islands of the Bahamas. I’ve fished the waters off Andros, the Abacos, the Berry Islands, the Exumas, Eleuthera, and beyond, including remote areas like Cat Island, Long Island, and even the far reaches of the southern Bahamas. But despite it all, I always return to Bimini.

Bimini is the closest Bahamian island to Florida, just 50 nautical miles from Haulover Inlet. That means less time spent crossing and more time fishing, relaxing, and enjoying the water. It’s ideal for weekend escapes. With decades of experience in this specific area, I know the local channels, sandbars, reefs, and migratory patterns like the back of my hand.

I have built relationships with the people, know the best marina slips, the right tides for specific species, and the small details that only come with years of boots-on-the-dock experience. This isn’t a place I visit occasionally. It’s a place I’ve grown up with and grown into.

If you want to maximize your time, enjoy smooth logistics, and fish with someone who knows every rock, ridge, and rip current in the area, Bimini is the place, and I’m the captain who can show it to you.
