YOUR CAPTAIN
Meet Captain Steve
U.S. Coast Guard Licensed Master Captain (100 Ton)

My connection to the sea goes back generations. As a third-generation fisherman, I was raised with salt in my veins and taught early on to respect the ocean, understand its rhythms, and navigate its challenges with skill and humility. This is not just a business for me. It is a passion and a way of life. When you step aboard No. 7, you are not stepping onto a generic charter boat. You are joining me on my personal pride and joy, a boat I purchased brand new and outfitted myself for both serious offshore fishing and comfortable cruising. This is my home on the water, not a leased vessel. Everything on board reflects my standards, my experience, and my commitment to giving guests the kind of trip I would want for myself.
Professional Credentials You Can Count On
I hold a United States Coast Guard Master 100 Ton License with a Towing Endorsement. This is a high-level credential that requires significant sea time, rigorous training, and comprehensive examination in navigation, safety, weather, emergency procedures, and vessel operation.
- I am legally qualified to operate vessels up to 100 gross tons. These are often large inspected commercial vessels or private recreational yachts in the 100-foot range.
- In contrast, “No. 7” has a gross tonnage of approximately 28 tons. That means she falls well below the size of vessel I am licensed to operate, giving you the added assurance that I am not just legally compliant, but professionally overqualified.
- I also hold a Towing Endorsement, which permits me to assist other boats in distress, an added level of capability and safety.
By comparison, most charter boat captains have a more common six-pack license (officially the OUPV license), which is limited to uninspected vessels and allows the carriage of no more than six paying passengers.
Extensive Experience in Bimini
My relationship with Bimini runs deep. I have been crossing over since childhood, long before GPS and modern marinas shaped the island we know today. I have watched Bimini grow over the decades, from a sleepy outpost into a popular destination, yet much of its magic remains just as I first experienced it.
Over the years, I have built lasting relationships with many locals, earning their friendship and respect, and gaining insight that only comes with time. Whether it is knowing where the fish are biting, which reefs are best for snorkeling, or how to time a crossing to avoid weather headaches, Bimini feels like a second home to me. If your trip includes a visit there, you will be guided by someone who truly knows the waters, the people, and the pulse of the island.
